Hair

Why do you have so many product lines?
Everyone's hair tells a different story.  As colorful and diverse as my client base my product line must meet the specific needs of my clients.  For example,  not all sodium hydroxide relaxers are the same, although each product line promises a very specific and uniformed result, straighter hair that's healthy, shiny and vibrant.

My hair is natural and tightly coiled, are there relaxed styles I can try without the chemical commitment?
The secret is training!  My specially formulated conditioning treatment and roller-set frees my clients from chemical straightening.  The key to training the hair into a more relaxed style is frequency of visits; clients booking every week to every other week will see a noticeable difference in their natural curl pattern.

I'm not sure which relaxer was used on my hair before, how do you safely determine what is best for me?
Strand test, strand test, strand test!  This 15 minute step saves a whole lot of tears.

Color

Why are glosses/glazes used after every color service?
Imagine a framed picture...if you frame a picture without a glass versus framing a picture with a glass.  The picture with out the glass is duller, but add the glass and you have a brilliantly detailed and colorful picture and your investment is protected from the elements and fading.  The science behind glosses is the same, hair color that's brilliant, shinier and protected.

I am a brunette and have never had highlights before, I do not want to be blond or have my hair lightened too much, what do you recommend?
Once upon a time highlights were synonymous with blonde, but not any more.  Color lines have perfected and added gorgeous shades for brunettes that do not leave clients too red or brassy.  Loreal Professional lighteners, which are rich in beeswax and other buffers designed to protect the hair, combined with beautiful colors afford brunettes a multitude of dimension, brightness and shine.

I have a sodium hydroxide relaxer in my hair, is it safe to highlight or permanently color?
Yes, but timing is everything.  Relaxed clients must wait a minimum of 10 days post relaxer to color and a low level of lightener is recommended.  I caution though coloring, especially highlighting is not for every client, and only after a thorough consultation can it be determined if coloring is right for you.

Can I cover my gray on the same day as my sodium hydroxide relaxer?
Yes, with a semi permanent or low level demi gray hair, because the cuticle is already open these types of colorants are very effective at covering gray.

Eyelashes

Why is cleaning the eye lids on a daily basis so important  with Novalash extensions?
In a word, mites.  Cleaning make up off at the end of the day is important for everyone.  Not only do you not want to wake up with raccoon eyes (not very attractive) you run the risk of bacterial infections which have plenty of time to grow while you are asleep, but there are naturally occurring mites that live on your eyelids.  If you notice excessive loss of eyelashes a lot of times this may be due to the mites burrowing in your hair follicle at the eyelid, thus suffocating the follicle causing your lashes to shed pre-maturely.  This happens with or WITH OUT eyelash extensions.  So the moral of this story is, clean your face before you go to bed.
